Pedagogies of Site Fellowship | Field Notes

A participatory movement experiment

With regard and gratitude for the way that sound can hold us in the present moment, Phyllis Bethel, Mareme Fall, and I will transform the space with song and movement in a brief activation of the Dia project gallery. Engaging with the site of the body, together we will move through music to make material metaphors.

A playful invitation: The sky is a place we could imagine our bodies to be. The sea is a water-body we could emulate, suddenly my arms and your arms a simile for waves.

Taking inspiration from the reciprocal relationship between sky and sea, I will guide an active listening practice wherein the body is intentionally in conversation with the music

Fly or swim or dance a little bit with us. We move through time with the understanding that gratitude and reciprocity multiply with every exchange.

In collaboration with vocalist Mareme Fall and percussionist Phyllis Bethel

Set list: Float by Olivia Dean, Sip Into Something Soft by Hiatus Kaiyote, Love Is Stronger Than Pride by Sade, Cranes in the Sky by Solange
